About Me

headshot I made the Bay Area my home in 1986. I attended Cal State Hayward (now Cal State East Bay) and graduated with an M.S. in Counseling Psychology and a Pupil Personnel Services Credential in 1995. I completed the 3000 hours for licensure at the John F. Kennedy Community Counseling Center. I have been licensed and in private practice since 2002. I now work with and support adults, families, parents, and children/adolescents who are experiencing a wide array of behavioral and emotional issues. By using a combination of therapies and tools, I build a strong therapeutic relationship with clients to address their struggles, concerns and hopes for change. Some clients prefer verbal sharing, or some need advice and suggestions to address a specific pressing life situation. My training includes competency using CBT, DBT, solution focused, and talk therapies. I provide a wide range of services that include addressing past/present trauma, relationship issues, life transitions of many kinds, mood disorders including bipolar disorders, parenting a child with special needs, and being an adult who was raised with a special needs sibling. In addition, I provide therapy/support to women who are anticipating female surgeries and assist in the physical and emotional recovery post surgery. I have a sound understanding of female genetic disorders affecting women.

For child/adolescent therapy, my background includes 10 years as a preschool lead teacher and a child/adolescent development background prior to becoming a mental health therapist. As a mental health provider of young people, I am very dedicated to helping them build a positive base from which to grow into healthy adults. I have specializations in working with children/adolescents with ADD/ADHD, bullying issues, anxiety/depression, hair and skin picking issues, school/social ups and downs, grief (divorce, death, school changes, shifting social groups, and blended families), LGBTQ+ youth, and being the sibling of a special needs sibling. My educational background includes special education; I can and do attend/participate in IEP and 504 meetings at your request.
